Job Purpose: General Workers at Transnet
To provide reliable support to the RME Construction teams during maintenance and construction tasks. Ensure effective and efficient completion of general worker duties.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competence Required:
- Minimum Grade 9 education or 6 months of relevant experience.
- Must be physically fit (medical examination required) and safety-conscious.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions.
- Preparedness to work extended hours on short notice.
- Willingness to relocate or work outside the designated depot.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- Preparedness to work in noisy environments.

Key Accountabilities:
- Perform all tasks as directed by the Supervisor/Team Leader.
- Maintain punctuality and sobriety.
- Handle, load, and unload materials.
- Clean sites by removing weeds, stacking materials, sweeping floors, and disposing of rubble.
- Use hand tools (non-mechanised) in the construction environment.
- Clean tools after use.
