How to Register Your CV with the Department of Employment and Labour

If you’re unemployed and interested in working for the South African government or any other organization, registering your CV with the Department of Employment and Labour can connect you with various job opportunities, from entry-level to professional roles. The Department offers the Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) system, designed to link job seekers with employers effectively.

Steps to Register as a Job Seeker:

  1. Complete the Work-Seeker Registration Form:
    • Visit your nearest labour centre and fill out the Jobseeker Registration Form.
    • This form allows you to provide essential details, including your personal information, skills, qualifications, and employment preferences.
  2. Upload Your CV Online:
    • Go to the ESSA website: www.labour.gov.za.
    • Create an account if you haven’t already.
    • After logging in, upload your CV to the system. This ensures your qualifications and skills are visible to prospective employers when suitable openings arise.
    • Alternatively, you can email your CV to the Department for upload assistance.
  3. Keep Your Information Up to Date:
    • To maximize your chances of finding a job, ensure your personal information, contact details, and CV are current.

Once your CV is registered, the Employment and Labour team will work to match your skills and experience with potential job opportunities. You’ll be notified if a suitable role aligns with your qualifications.

For Organizations:

Employers can also benefit from the ESSA system. Here’s how:

  1. Registering the Organisation:
    • A designated person must first register as an individual on ESSA. After logging in, they can link the organisation to their profile using the organisation’s Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) reference number.
    • The organisation can then post job opportunities, and ESSA will forward CVs from matched individuals based on the job criteria.

Note: Organisation registration is currently available only for those registered with UIF. The Department is expanding this service to non-UIF-registered organisations.

By utilizing the ESSA system, you gain access to numerous job opportunities, making it easier to connect with potential employers across South Africa.
