EPWP General Workers – Short-Term Contract (12 Months)

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) Health Department is offering short-term job opportunities (up to 12 months) for unemployed individuals. These positions are available across various regions (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G) to assist in local health facilities. Successful candidates will support with data capturing, general work, and queue marshalling.
Eligible candidates must reside in the listed regions.
Position Overview

Requirements:
- Minimum of Grade 10 or higher
- Youth between 18 and 35 years (youth candidates are preferred)

- Knowledge of City processes, best practices, and health/social programs
- Good numeric, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of electronic devices, including email and internet usage
Primary Responsibilities:
General Worker Duties:
- Maintain cleanliness in waiting areas, consulting rooms, offices, kitchens, and laundry spaces
- Ensure clinical procedure rooms and surfaces are cleaned and dusted before use
- Sort and replace soiled linen in all consulting rooms
- Empty waste bins and maintain cleanliness around clinic premises
Data Capturer Duties:
- Enter customer records and update client information in the system
- Compile monthly statistics of clinic visitors
- Organize and file customer records in alpha-numeric or chronological order
- Retrieve files when requested by department personnel
- Manage appointments for services using the clinic’s system
- Coordinate and maintain inventory for stationery and clinic records
Queue Marshal Duties:
- Greet and assist patients and visitors, providing them with information and directions
- Ensure smooth flow of patients through various clinic areas
- Monitor and manage queues, directing clients to the appropriate locations
- Oversee the helpdesk and respond to patient inquiries
