Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to support our electricians in various semi-skilled tasks, including installation, repair, and maintenance activities. The role involves assisting electricians with their daily responsibilities, ensuring efficient operations.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- Preferred Qualification: N2 Electrical qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of electrical experience in an Abattoir Maintenance Department.
- Skills: Experience with PLC & VSD systems and the ability to read electrical plans.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the FMCG sector is a plus.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime, shifts, and weekends as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general tasks as directed by the Electrician, Controller, or Line Manager.
- Operate hand-held machines and tools relevant to the job.
- Assist the Electrician with maintenance and repairs of electrical equipment.
- Carry out cable duties efficiently while adhering to safe working practices.
- Maintain tools, specialized equipment, and materials necessary for the tasks.
- Support breakdowns and ensure all tools and equipment are ready for use.
- Enforce ISO, HACCP, and Occupational Health and Safety standards in the workplace.
- Assist with fault-finding and problem-solving on electrical systems.
- Maintain and organize the workshop, including cleaning and sorting.
- Provide maintenance support during weekends.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance managers, electricians, and production staff.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.

- Strong communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good reporting skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
