Job Vacancies: Handymen at Table Mountain National Park

Location: Table Mountain National Park

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Trade Certificate in Electrical, Aircon, Refrigerator, Plumbing, or related field (advantageous)
• Code 10 driver’s license with PDP
• Minimum of three (3) years practical experience in technical/maintenance field
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance, and equipment repairs
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Basic general administration skills
• Ability to work under pressure and in unfavorable conditions
• Availability to work on weekends and public holidays as required
• Candidates will be required to conduct a practical assessment

Responsibilities:

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks such as repairs, plumbing, welding, maintenance of air conditioners and refrigerators, electrical work, and civil works to predetermined quality and productivity standards
• Routine maintenance of tourist buildings, staff accommodation, ablution blocks, administration, and other infrastructure services (electricity, borehole pumps, sewer systems, buildings, equipment)
• Assist with inspection of maintenance contractors’ work
• Record daily maintenance work performed and maintenance needs
• Transport equipment, materials, and staff, and conduct vehicle inspections
• Storekeeping and inventory management of tools and equipment
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing technical tasks
• Order stock and assist with supply chain processes
• Perform basic housekeeping and other ad-hoc tasks as identified by the supervisor
• Assist with general administrative tasks such as recording stock and inventory, completing time sheets, log sheets, leave forms, and other month-end statistics

Remuneration:

• Salary: R137,509.70 – R188,179.21
• Job Grade: Paterson B2
• The remuneration package includes a basic salary, allowances, and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.
• Note: The successful candidate must provide their own accommodation as no official accommodation is available in the park.
